It's in my blood.
Since I was given my first camera, when I was a little kid, I have always been fascinated by capturing in a shot what my eyes were seeing around me. The beauty of nature or the smile of a friend, an event or an emotion... Precious pearls to be framed in a photo. Whether freezing a movement or moving the stillness, looking at normality through a different angle or portraying the exceptional, I can choose different perspectives, I can catch reality. I think this passion is in my blood, I inherited it from my Grandpa and then from my Dad, and it has always had a great influence in my life. Come and follow me in my journey searching impressions of life.

Autumn Colors

Autumn has been pretty warm this year, leaves turned colors a little later than usual and that allowed us to see the last colors even this late, in mid November. Temperature is turning down now, though, and winter is coming.

The weather was cold and cloudy in the morning but luckily the sun made it through the low clouds and we could admire the bright colors of alders and birch trees.

I love fall!

Fall Again

I really love this season, wonderful and visually striking with an explosion of colors all around us. And when there is a sunny day like last Saturday, the beauty of nature is even more extraordinary.

I want to share a few more Autumn images taken during a quick visit to a natural park not far from home, the Parco di Montevecchia e valle del Curone, where Denise and I spent a few hours, looking for nice spots to photograph. Thanks to Cristina for the tip!

Pumpkin Galore 2!

Winter is here. Almost every morning frost is covering the grass and creating wonderful ice decorations on leaves and branches. But before abandoning completely the warmth of fall colors, please allow me to share some more pumpkins and squash images I took, this time in a different setting than the first batch posted some time ago.

I decided to create a strong contrast between the background and the vivid colors of the subjects, using a black backdrop and artificial lights. Enjoy!

Getting Ready for the Winter

Winter is coming! And the squirrels are working frantically to gather enough food to survive the cold months. They are certainly a favorite subject of mine for photos and it's not difficult to spot them even very close to man habitat. They are fast, though, so I am trying to always be ready to focus and shoot rapidly. When they are on the ground and they find some nuts, they often decide to start eating right away and then is when I try to get closer, approaching carefully without alarming them, to take good shots. Another moment is when they stop, looking at you to check what you are doing, to decide whether you are dangerous or not, and usually that allows you more time to frame them and take your shot. Here, I had to shoot with a very slow shutter speed in a couple of occasions, because there was very little light, but I think I got a decent capture anyway. Enjoy!

Autumn Impressions

Like when we are feeling a little tired and cold, and we look forward to going to sleep under a warm, cozy blanket: so I like to imagine trees in the fall. The skilled brush of God paints their leaves when the first chill starts filling the air, and they wear their wonderful coat to get ready for the well-deserved rest. Colors and reflections become magical and they are pure joy for the eyes and the soul.

I am so excited when the season turns and Nature presents us such wonderful beauty, and I can't refrain myself from going out and trying to capture as much as I can with my camera. Framing what your eyes see and what your brain perceives it's not as easy as it seems, and often the shot can't make it. But the beauty of Nature in the fall is so amazing, that it's difficult not to catch at least a glimpse of it in your photographs.

Here are some autumn impressions, taken last and this year.
